Welcome to Nerdsville

We have our own language. We really do. If any of you sane folk walked into our movie watching parties, you would probably walk right back out. "They're speaking Klingon! I swear!" Of course, there is no need for swearing; that is entirely inappropriate in this instance.

Things like: "He would get along really well with Hal 9000!" To which I respond: "Oh, you just wait an see." "Those models remind me of Star Wars." "Why do people keep falling apart in movies this year?" "That was TOTALLY like Alien!" "2009 was recorded as having the most vomiting in movies for any given year."

It's not like we care. We're... fellowshipping. I think that is one of those things that people often miss, especially with nerdy guys. We are having a blast. This is how we interact. We actually make memories that we will remember years from now. Case and point: I still remember making fun of "Babette's Feast" and the vampire olives. That was over a year ago. Still a fond memory.

So next time you see a bunch of us walking around, talking gibberish, don't pity us, don't laugh at us. Laugh WITH us! Or perhaps... pity yourself, and that fact that you don't have friends that will laugh with you. I'm blessed. I wouldn't see it any other way.

Sincerely,
JSTT

Wait

Waiting...
What are we waiting on?
A sign?
A hope?
A wish?
A fish, I could swim
Just swim away
Stop the madness and the pain
But I'm looking at this upside down
We aren't passive like bricks
Only used to beat down other walls
We move
We act
We wait with purpose
We wait with passion
We wait

My All Time Favorite Albums

Ok, I don't have any great new music for you this week, at least in terms of what is new and fresh and was released just yesterday. But I would like to share with you the albums that have shaped me and my musical tastes. Spanning 8 years and every genre from jazz to punk to psalms. While there are a lot of albums that I really enjoy and could listen to on repeat for days on end, not all of those have really changed me, and not all of them really work as an ALBUM. They don't tell a complete story. These ones here, however, are the albums that I will ALWAYS listen to.

Yellowcard - "Paper Walls"

One of the few albums from my college years that made the list. I was a big fan of Yellowcard's second album, "Lights & Sounds." But that record was a bit dark, sometimes ranting against the war in the Middle East ("Two Weeks From Twenty"), other times commenting on the confusion of relationships ("Gray"). "Paper Walls," however, took a turn for the better; much better. The lead single, "Light Up The Sky," makes the movement towards optimism very obvious, while the theme of breaking out of the "paper house" we've built for ourselves pervades the album.

Stand out tracks: "Light Up The Sky," "Shadows and Regrets" and "Dear Bobbie"

Thousand Foot Krutch - "Phenomenon"

Already being a pretty big fan of Linkin Park, and looking for Christian alternatives to the sounds of secular bands I liked, Thousand Foot Krutch (TFK) immediately appealed to me. Mixing rapcore and hard edged grunge, the album had a crunching impact like few albums I had heard before. I kept it on repeat for weeks. Low on content, but high on the fun factor, this album still makes me happy and reminds me of my middle school days.

Stand out tracks: "This Is A Call," "New Design" and "Bounce"

Project 86 - "Truthless Heroes"

When I first picked up this album, I don't think I had ever heard anything quite so angry before. And the more I listened to it, and the older I grew, I realized I had not heard many albums quite so on target. The first and last album that Project 86 ever made with a major record label, the angst is through the roof. The lead singer, Andrew Schwab, levels criticism at everyone from Hollywood to the modern evangelical church. Who says that Christians can't stick it to the man too?

Stand out tracks: "S.M.C.," "Another Boredom Movement" and "Soma"

The O.C. Supertones - "Hi-Fi Revival"

Along with "Lift" and "Building a Better Me," this was one of the first albums that I ever bought, and greatly influenced my tastes for quite some time. The Supertones, sick of the angst and hatred in rock music, were out to make something fun, clean, and that your pastor would approve of. Well, they succeeded... in spades. And yes, that's a good thing. While many other Christian rock acts sought to simply copy/clean/paste what the secular music industry was doing, the Supertones made something new. Utilizing a horn section with huge rock beats, they made a praise and worship album and a punk album at the same time. Positive, energetic, and in the end, exhausting; it is totally worth every penny. Don't worry, it's that good exhausted feeling you get after a hearty belly laugh, or a good run.

Stand out tracks: "Go Go Go," "Just a Man" and "Glory Hallelujah"

Mae - "The Everglow"

One of those rare albums that really does take you on a journey, that tells a story. You can't really listen to one of the songs from this album, it's meant to be listened to as a whole... with the beautiful watercolor paintings in the artwork. If you do end up buying this album, make sure you buy a physical copy, or you will be missing half of the experience.

Stand out tracks: Just listen to the whole album.

The Gabe Dixon Band - "The Gabe Dixon Band"

For a sound this deep, it's hard to imagine that it's only three guys with a drum kit, piano and upright bass. But there you have it. Soulful, moving white boy blues and jazz. I don't really have much to say about the album, except that the single "All Will Be Well" is my favorite song of all time, and has been for the past 9 years.

Stand out tracks: "All Will Be Well," "And The World Turned" and "Baby Doll"

Audio Adrenaline - "Lift"

Audio A. truly was the U2 of the Christian music world. Boasting an enormous fan base, and having one of the best live shows around helped. Creating this album helped even more. They even created "The Hands and Feet" project, not unlike U2's "One" campaign... from a Christian worldview, of course. Audio A. only put out two other albums after "Lift," due to lead vocalist Mark Stuart's tearing vocal cords, but "Lift" is by far (in my opinion) one of their best.

Stand out tracks: "Ocean Floor," "Summertime" and "Tremble"

Good Charlotte - "The Young and the Hopeless"

High school is confusing. Who do you listen to? What do you listen to? There are so many ideas competing for your attention that often times it seems a lot easier to block it all out, maybe even give up. The boy's from D.C.'s Good Charlotte aren't about to let that happen. Blending satire with perseverance, they touch on everything from suicide, to jealousy, to materialism. Life is hard, reconciliation is hard, but "The Young and the Hopeless" wants you to know that it's not nearly as hopeless as it seems.

Stand out tracks: "The Anthem," "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" and "Movin' On"

Audioslave - "Audioslave"

After Rage Against the Machine's rapping madman Zack de la Rocha left the band, Chris Cornell (former lead singer of the 80's grunge outfit Soundgarden) took the reins, and took the band in a completely different direction. It became much less angry, and the lyrics improved greatly, while maintaining the guitar magic of Tom Morello. Audioslave introduced grunge to a whole new generation and catapulted Cornell to a near legendary position in the world of rock and roll.

Stand out tracks: "Show Me How To Live," "Like a Stone" and "Exploder"

Dogwood - "Building a Better Me"

Punk is my favorite genre simply because it was the first kind of music that I found. I don't really remember how, but there you have it. It started with the early days of Tooth and Nail Records and MP3.com... when it still legally offered free mp3s; before most people knew what music piracy was. It was back then, early 2001, that I discovered Dogwood... one of the original Christian punk rock bands from So Cal, who along with MxPx and Slick Shoes spearheaded the movement. Blending skateboard culture and heart on the sleeve Christianity, they created a hardcore blend that Tooth and Nail nearly put a trademark on... paving the way for bands like Under0ath and Kutless. But let it be known, Dogwood started it all. To this day, their "Building A Better Me" video makes me smile.

Stand out tracks: "Building A Better Me," "Truth About It Is" and "Nothing New"

Foo Fighters - "Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace"

Yet another example of a rock supergroup that became a respected band in their own right. Their last album came out just as I was finishing up high school and spoke to me on a very deep level, specifically the last track, "Home." We all long for home, whatever form that may take... and Foo Fighters take you on a trip through a summer in the south eastern U.S. to find that home. Darned if they don't do a good job.

Stand out tracks: "The Pretender," "Summer's End" and "Home"

The Classic Crime - "The Silver Cord"

The Classic Crime's "The Silver Cord" is the winter to "Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace's" summer. It takes you to the other side of the continent, to a cold and bleak Washington state, as the singer searches for meaning, hope and (like David Grohl) a home. He finds it. He finds that peace and solace in only one place: complete and totally surrender to Christ.

Stand out tracks: "Salt In The Snow," "Everything" and "The Beginning"

Entire Relient K catalog

Just like my parents and Christ, Relient K has always been their for me. When I got back from Peru, right after discovering rock and roll, girls and Christian culture... there they were with "Two Lefts..." Entering high school, dealing with broken relationships and looking for hope, they released their major label debut: "Mmhmm." "Five Score..." was bigger, louder, fuller, and ended with an 11 minute epic that made my mom cry. Well into my college career, they put out "Forget and Not Slow Down," reminding me that people fail us, but God does not... and He is what makes life worth living. He is the only one in whom I can find my identity. Relient K has grown up alongside me, and I and deeply thankful to them for the stories they've told and the encouragement they've given me.

Stand out tracks: "For The Moments I Feel Faint," "Breakdown," "Mood Rings," "Trademark," "Getting Into You," "High of 75," "I So Hate Consequences," "More Than Useless," "Up and Up," "Deathbed," "I Don't Need A Soul," "Savannah" and "This Is The End (If You Want It)"

THESE NEXT THREE ALBUMS ARE MY TOP TOP FAVORITES. I OFTEN LISTEN TO THEM ALL IN TANDEM. I WON'T BE GIVING YOU A STAND OUT TRACK LIST FOR ANY OF THEM EITHER. THEY ARE ALL AMAZING AND MEANT TO BE LISTENED TO AS COMPLETE ALBUMS.

Fernando Ortega - "The Shadow of Your Wings"

When I'm down and out, when there is no other direction to look but up... I pull out this album. It reminds me who I am, and where, ultimately, my hope lies. Completely composed of Psalms and hymns, it's all scripture. It's Scripture with music. David, a shepherd several thousand years ago did something similar. He was able to calm a king down, a king who was crazier than a sack of ferrets. The word of God brings peace, the word of God set to music... need I say more?

Rise Against - "The Sufferer and the Witness"

It's hard to find a secular band that really takes justice seriously, who really wants to do the right thing, and has a purpose. Avoiding the stereotypical "sex, drugs and rock and roll" image, Rise Against stands out amongst a crowd. Most of the members of the band are married, believe in the sanctity of marriage, refuse to smoke or drink, and generally shun most of the vices of the rock and roll world they live in. But they don't skimp on the rock. Righteous anger, redemption and perseverance are pervasive themes on the album. "Injection" calls out for to God for help and deliverance from addiction, "Prayer of the Refuge" sings of hope and longs for justice for the downtrodden, "The Good Left Undone" begs for salvation, "Bricks" is just plan angry and "Survive" lets you know that it sure as hell isn't over yet.

Steven Curtis Chapman - "Declaration"

The most influential album in my life. My mom listened to Steven Curtis Chapman when she was in college, and now I'm in college and I am still listening to him... even though I was introduced to him long before any of the other bands or musicians in this list. It is very probable that I listened to music by Steven Curtis Chapman while still in the womb. And this album has lifted me up more times than I can count. It has made me laugh, it has made me cry, it has caused me to worship our Lord more than ever before. And it has always reminded me that "God is God."

Cheers,
JSTT

Letter to a Friend

Well done my friend, well done
You've fought and you have won
Well done my friend, well done
You've finished what you begun

I know the road is long and hard
The frost bites sharp and deep
And thought we fall, bleed and cry
The path we must always keep

Look at me, I've been there too
Even though you may disbelieve me
I've felt the fear and kept it down
Until I thought no one could see

But when I spoke, the chains fell off
I could feel and laugh and breathe
So if you look upon me now
See a friend
One who was bound, but now is free

I didn't know they made movies like that anymore

This is an overview/review/my comments on the movie Book of Eli.

WARNING! MAJOR PLOT SPOILERS TO FOLLOW!

Envision this conversation:

Upstanding Hollywood Director: "Hey, I've got this great idea for a movie!"
Warner Brothers: "OK, what is it?"
UHD: "Well, the whole movie takes place in post-apocalyptic America. So basically the whole thing looks like the wild west."
WB: "I like it so far."
UHD: "And there's this guy see, and he is traveling west, he's not sure were exactly, carrying the last copy of the Bible on earth with him."
WB: "I love it! How much do you need?"
UHD: "About $80 million. Oh... and can we have Denzel Washington star as the protagonist?"
WB: "Of course!"

Can you picture it? Neither can I. But something to that effect happened. And now the Hughes brothers' film is roaming around theaters worldwide. Last movie they made was called From Hell. It was released 9 years ago and was about Jack the Ripper. What on earth happened between then and now? I have no clue, but whatever it is, I am grateful for it.

The movie starts simple enough. Denzel Washington is walking across the desert in slow motion, exuding pure coolness. He has a shot gun, a pistol, a backpack, an ipod and what we soon learn is a Bible. Soon enough his ipod runs out of juice and he runs out of water. Nothing for it but to enter the nearest town western style. Denzel finds ipod fix it man, Denzel finds pretty girl, Denzel finds trouble, Denzel finds evil Gary Oldman. Oldman wants to recruit Denzel. He has and eye for talent, and Oldman needs a bit more muscle to keep a hold of his town.

Denzel: "No can do."
Oldman: "Well, at least stay the night."

Denzel isn't given an option. In the middle of the night, Oldman, in an attempt to convince Denzel to stay, sends his daughter (Mila Kunis) to show him a... pleasurable evening. Little does he know Denzel is a man of God. Denzel teaches Mila to pray instead. Mila prays in front of Dad. Big no, no. Now Oldman wants the book.

Denzel: "What book?"

Denzel runs off into the desert. Mila goes with. Oldman chases. Denzel and Mila run into cannibals. They turn out to be nice cannibals. Oldman and co. show up and kill cannibals. Lots of shooting. Oldman gets Mila. "GIVE ME THE BOOK OR I'LL SHOOT HER!" Denzel gives him the book, Oldman shoots Denzel.

The end. Nice bleak, pessemistic ending. Religion doesn't solve problems, it causes them. Right?

Wrong.

Mila hijacks bad guys' car. Blows another one up. Runs off back to Denzel's body. Oldman gives up the chase. He has what he wants. Now he can twist Scripture and use it for his own purposes. Mila finds Denzel up and walking, still heading west. He gets in the car and they finally make it to San Fransisco and to Alcatraz, where another group of survivors are holed up.

Oldman makes it back to town, only to discover that the Bible he has is all in Braille. Denzel is blind. The film ends with Denzel, his wounds washed, dressed in white, dictating the Bible to a scribe, dictating the Scriptures that he has spent the past 30 years reading. And Oldman, dying of his wounds, looking at a Bible he can't read, watching his "kingdom" fall apart. Denzel is entering heaven. Oldman is entering hell.

God will preserve His Scripture and His people, no matter the circumstances. No matter the odds. No matter the cost. He will continue His work, and He WILL complete it!

God will...

Amen!

The Dilemma of Stand Up Comedy

I love stand up comedy. The whole goal of making people laugh is a very good one. We take ourselves WAY to seriously in America now-a-days, and plus, so many people are just downright depressed. (I know you cannot have true joy without Christ, but that is a topic for another time. And yes, I'm going to be like Herodotus and just die before I can actually come back and address something that I promised you all I would address).

But with stand up comedy going the way it is now, well, I am presented with an interesting dilemma. So much of the comedy scene is populated by downright dirty, smutty, vulgar jokes. Dane Cook is a great example. He certainly has a stage presents, he is one of the best paid comics in the world, but boy is he vulgar! "F***" replaces "like" as the standard verbal tick when he's on stage.

Then you have people like Jim Gaffigan. Clean, really funny... but then I started stumbling upon some of his more blasphemous routines and became very uncomfortable.

Even worse is Lewis Black, who is as vulgar as Dane Cook, and has all the passion of Richard Dawkins. Outspokenly Jewish, Black goes on to rail against the Old and New Testament and how evil the God of the Old Testament is. Blasphemy to the nth degree.

You're left with comics like Brian Regan holding the bag, as far as good family friendly comedy goes. He does an admirable job, but it's not enough. He's a good comic, but not an excellent one. But if he and his kind are not supported, we won't see many more, if any, clean comedians take the stage and make the masses laugh harder than they have ever laughed before.

Is there a need? Yes, I would say so. We need more really solid Christians playing the comedy circuits. If I'm so adamant about it, why don't I go? Fair question. Safe to say... I am seriously considering it. (Or would that be funnily considering....? Nevermind.)

In the meantime, here's a clean comic doing the routine I stole in my last post: "On a chair... IN THE SKY!"

In Christ, with laughter, though war,

Note

I realize that my last post was pretty much incomprehensible. I'm going back and editing it now. Hope it is more fun to read when I am finished.

Back for another round

Well, I just got back to beautiful Moscow, Idaho. I was a little trepidatious about coming back, what with traveling several thousand miles, and the whole going to school and being away from my family... again. But I shouldn't have been. Since when has being worried ever solved anything? Or... is it the other way around? That it DOES work? As the saying goes: "Worrying works, what you worry about never seems to happen."

I really hate planes though. Well, not hate. They help me get to see people that I love quickly and efficiently. We often complain about security checks and what not... but really, think about it for a moment: you are sitting in a chair......... IN THE SKY!!!! You are thousands of miles above the surface of the earth, defying gravity. What is NOT cool about that, huh?

Security checks do suck though. A friend of mine told me this morning that in some airports they have installed body scanners. Like... um.... yeah. They see everything. Not ok. Just not OK. Like in Britain they can't scan anyone under 18. Yeah. Ick. Somebody has got to put and end to this madness.

But still, the whole plane part is pretty much the bomb. (pun not intended) For example, on my flight from Atlanta to Salt Lake, they had personal TVs installed in the back of the head rests. BOOYAH! Even better, they had one jack headphone adapter things. Don't you hate it when you pull out your headphones to watch the in-flight movie and you suddenly realize that you need a pair of headphones with two jacks to watch in stereo? Anyway, they had Comedy Central. Stand-up comedy all the way to Mormonville.

Don't get me wrong. I love Mormons. They show us Christians up all the time. I mean, why can't WE be that nice? Huh? Somebody riddle me that.

While walking through the Salt Lake airport however, I was surprised to find people besides me wearing Goorin Bros. hats. You cannot go wrong with a Goorin. Mine is pretty much my favorite hat of all time. http://www.goorin.com/

Finally on the last flight from Salt Lake to Lewiston (read it as: middle of nowhere Idaho), I sat next to a nice girl going back to school too. Vandal pride. She had been in... Romania was it? Jenny. She pointed out that we were both wearing claddaugh rings. So we were. Imagine that. Turned out she had been all over Europe, and was considering studying there eventually.

Inevitably the subject of where I went to school came up. "New Saint Andrews," I say. A look of consternation. "You know, the little brick building on main street?" A look of recognition. "Yeah, I've heard of it... I think."

Suddenly, the man sitting in front of us turns around, looks at me, "Josiah!" He sticks out his hand, I shack obligingly. "I knew you looked familiar!" It's Mr. Garfield, one of the teachers from Logos private school... the little brother to New Saint Andrews.

Then he turns to Jenny, and looks at her hard. She looks a little taken aback, a little nervous. I can understand. Old guys (no offense, Mr. Garfield) staring at you will do that to you. "We're neighbors, aren't we?" Another look of recognition. "Mr. Garfield?" "Yup! How's the family?"

Small talk. We still haven't taken off yet. Salt Lake airport officials are pretty serious about de-icing all the planes.

Finally back in good, ol' Idaho it's still a half-hour drive from my landing point, Lewiston, to my final destination, Moscow. Pump Say Anything through the speakers. Punk rock with a psychotic messianic Jew as the front man, what's there not to love? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Say_Anything_%28band%29

I make it back at about 11ish, 2300 for all you military types. My body is screaming: "2 AM, 2 AM, 2 AM!" as loud as it can. I head to crash into bed, but not before my roommate tells me that one of the other guys left... like for good. Or at least for the foreseeable future. Not enough cash. That's the jist. Fading... fast. Bed eats me for a midnight snack.

Next morning... Sunday. Back to Christ Church. Home. http://www.christkirk.com/ I think that was the biggest thing I was worried about coming back, not the academics, not the weather.... the people. Like I said... I needn't have worried. With God you never do. You NEVER do. "He's always been faithful to me."

So... I'm back. Back.... home. "Home is what you make it." Never blame it on others, never fear, never despise where you are. If you harbor loathing in your heart simply for where you are, you are most definitely not living in God's will, you are not seeking His peace. Rest in Him always. He's never steered me wrong.

The glory and grace of God never fails.
Praise be unto His name!

Well, Latin vocab is calling my name. Until next time, I remain you friendly neighborhood Calvinist!

Withdrawl

Yes, I'm going through it. I logged back into facebook a little while ago. Then I logged right back out. Why can't I let go of that digital world? Why am I so consumed with it? What is real there? I don't know. Perhaps it was that I felt important.

I think even more than that it's because we are lazy. SUPER lazy. We would rather log onto facebook than make a phone call. I'm not criticizing my readers... I'm talking about myself. It's as if I cannot even deal with real interactions with other human beings. What am I afraid of? That I might actually enjoy actual interaction with others??

I'm going to start twitching soon. Coma is next. Someone please get out the defibrillators.

The golden rule when browsing the webernet

Creation

Is there really anything more important? The start of everything there ever was was creation. And the end? A NEW creation. We are made in the likeness of our Creator. Hence, we create. Next to breathing, eating and relationships... is there anything else?

"You start with a feeling" -The Edge

Does it matter what you create? Not particularly. Do it because you love it. Do it for others. Do it for the Creator.

Then comes the question: "How MUCH do I create?" As much as you can. There is no virtue in writing a Russian novel over a sentence. A riff is no less important than a symphony. As long as you put your all into it. Make it the best you can.

Hate II

I hate sin. I really really do! It sickens me. (Romans 7:7-25)

But we have been given strength to overcome sin. (1 Corinthians 10:13)

And we are held up in Christ, we are completely forgiven. This is why we rejoice! (Romans 8:1-4)

"I found away over the fear and through the flames!"

Doom is screamed in the streets, and in the market place. They are selling it on TV, at your local ToysRus today. Don't leave home without it!

Are we really in a state of fear? Or should we perhaps listen to Michael Crichton and Jesus, who told us not to give into the mania of the masses.

But even if it is... even if we are doomed... I have found joy in Christ. I have been played for the fool. But wait? I am happy? And you are lost and depressed? Who is the fool now?

"It's the zombie apocalypse. Bring friends."

Prayer, lies and Facebook

Well... that was a LOT harder than it should have been. I think I've learned a thing or two though...

First off:

When I first thought of this whole getting rid of Facebook thing; well, it was a while ago. I had been thinking about it for quite some time now. The real struggle of actually buckling down and deleting the darned thing came upon me today though, and that is when I posted the whole "Josiah Scott Talbert Truax is seriously considering deleting his facebook. This thing is sucking me dry. Gonna pray about it."

The first part wasn't really necessary to share. I don't know why I did. Perhaps because it was the one thing that was consuming my head at the time... and Facebook is all about me, right??

My dad called me on the second part. The excuse of prayer. That's what it was. "What do you mean you're 'going to pray about it?'" I couldn't give a good answer. I really couldn't. Was I denoting the fact that I really wanted to make a good decision? That I wanted to consult God about it? That I was waiting for a good feeling? Yeah, right... Since when do you have a good feeling about doing something good for you that is uncomfortable???

What did I want? I wanted more time to argue with God. Yeah... that's a simply BRILLIANT idea, Josiah. Just stunningly genius!

Wake up call #2:

A friend of mine, here in NC, commented on my status update something to the effect of:

"What's there to pray about? Do you think that deactivating your Facebook is a sin?"

Godsmack... epic Godsmack. I love that phrase... too bad a horrible metal band has claimed it. Wait... we're supposed to be reclaiming stuff for the kingdom, right? I'm reclaiming the phrase "Godsmack!" So THERE!

So... he was right, God was right. I was just kicking and screaming. I needed to let go. Like I have always needed to let go of my idols. Ripping, tearing... not fun; but necessary.

Another one of my friends from Moscow, ID put it best when she compared Facebook to an annoying and demanding little brother. Let me extend the metaphor further: it's a little brother that sucks you dry and gives nothing back. A little brother that brings up things that you only want to forget. A little brother that tells dirty jokes and won't shut up. A little brother that at first seemed cute and cuddly... but has now turned into a monster.

Or maybe I should ostracize part of my audience and compare Facebook to smoking.

You know what... I'll leave that one for another time. ;)

Sincerely in Christ,
JSTT

Conversations

I talk to myself... this is considered a bit odd to most people. Even more so, considering that fact that I take it as far as arguing with myself on paper. But... it helps.

You often heard it said that writers do not write for others, but for themselves. This is true--and false. I write so that I can sort out my problems, yes. But I also write for others enjoyment. I like telling stories for example. I love watching the reactions on peoples faces at certain bits of the story. They may cringe, or laugh, or cry, or... in the case of my kid sister, sometimes scream. It is amazing how stories can affect people.

This is also the reason for my enormous attraction to film: it gets a reaction. It seems to have always been that way; for good or ill. They always get a reaction.

But as I started... sometimes....... make that often times, words are for healing. Not many people. Not to inspire millions around the globe. But just a few, perhaps only two.

Perhaps only one.

My words have hurt so many before. It's even happened on this blog before. But I have seen the power of words to heal too. I've seen them creating beautiful things. Absolutely amazing things!

"God spoke..."

I pray I speak the way He meant it to be spoken.

Hate

Just cuz this is usually all about me doesn't mean that I can't use it for other people.

God hates. God hates divorce. I should hate divorce too. How can I do that? Praying for the kids I know who's parents are getting a divorce. I know several. I don't know what it's like. But I can pray... I can always pray.

Chapter 21

Well, well, well... yet again another chapter presses on and I fail to document it. Rectifying that... NOW.

I've been away for many reasons, most of them narcissistic. I like that word; narcissistic. Me, me, me, me, me. That is its essence, is it not?

I continue to write, although my ADD is progressing at a most frightening rate. Twitter and Facebook have debased me. I am a broken shell of a man. I enjoy hyperbole.

Perhaps I could start writing haiku. Ummmm... no. Nevermind.

Anyway, not to worry... the narcissism will continue; as will the poetry, rants and prayers. By God's grace we grow.

Sincerely,
JSTT
